Body
As of January 1st, 2022 accounts of former students and employees are subject to removal as detailed in the Account Retention Policy.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will this impact me as a graduating student?
Graduating students will receive a notice 30 days prior to graduation with instructions on how to transfer their data to a personal account. One year after graduation, the account will be disabled, regardless of activity.
How does this impact me as a student that leaves before graduation?
Students who choose not to re-enroll at ACU will have their accounts disabled one year after the end of the last term they attended.
How does this impact me as an ACU employee?
Employees employed by ACU after January of 2022 will have their accounts disabled immediately upon separation from the university, whether voluntary or involuntary.
If a supervisor or other individual needs access to the account for the purpose of recovering university data, a request can be made to Human Resources.
Individuals can also request an exception (i.e., retiree; see below). These will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
If I retire from ACU, is there a way for me to keep my email account?
A retiree, as defined by the Employee Handbook, can request to retain access to their email account. This request must be submitted by the dean for faculty or the employee's supervisor for staff.
The retiree email account may have some or all data purged from the account to address access and security concerns. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
What if I left before 2022?
Students and employees who left the university prior to 2022 will continue to have access to their ACU email accounts, so long as they continue to log in to the account. These accounts are limited to 10 GB of total data storage.
If you do not actively log in to your account by authenticating your password for a period of 180 days, your account will be disabled. 180 days after the account is disabled, the account will be permanently deleted. During this time, you can contact ACU IT to re-enable your account.
