Why the change?
As part of our commitment to improve the student experience, Information Technology completed a project that provided substantial updates to the ID Card System. One of the updates included in this change is the transition from “swipe” cards to including functionality for “tap” or proximity cards and readers. In addition, starting in the Fall of 2024, Information Technology released the Mobile ID functionality that allows the ACU Abilene community to interact with those same touchpoints with their smartphone or smartwatch. This improves the user experience and reduces friction.
