Terminate an Employee

This article will outline the process for terminating an employee. For student employees, use the End Jobs task instead.

Instructions

  • From the Workday home page, go to the Terminate Employee task by searching for "Terminate Employee."Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • Enter the name of the employee to terminate and click OK.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • Click anywhere on the first panel to edit and set the Primary Reason as appropriate.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • Click the check box to save the changes.
  • Click in the Details panel to Edit
  • Set the Termination Date as desired. This will auto-populate the Last Day of Work and Pay Through Date.
  • If the employee resigned, set the Resignation Date as the date the employee informed you of departure.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • Click the check box to save the changes.
  • Optionally, attach any appropriate documentation, such as a resignation letter.
