Body

  • For a Chromebook or Chromebox, you will need to add the printer via the IP address. If you do not already know the IP address of your printer, please call the Helpdesk at 325-674-4357 and we will be happy to help you install the printer.
  • Keep in mind that printers on Chrome devices are an account specific setting. This means that you will need to add the printer to each account on your Chrome device you would like to have printing capability. Because printers are an account setting, once you set up a printer on someone's account, it will be immediately available to that person if they sign in on a different Chrome device with their account.
  • Once you have the IP address, click on the clock at the bottom right. Then In the pop up window click on the gear icon to open the Chrome device's settings application.

  • Once settings has opened, type "printers" in the search bar at the top. Then click "Printers" in the search results.

  • In the printers settings window, click the icon to the right of "Add Printer"

  • In the window that opens, type the queue name of the printer (for example LIB214_1 or ZEL300_MFP) in the name field. This will allow you to quickly locate which printer you are printing to. In the address field type in the IP address you have for the printer. Make sure the protocol is set to Internet Protocol Printing (IPP) and leave the queue field as it's default value (ipp/print).

  • Once you have entered all the information, click "Add" and you should see the printer in your list of available printers.
  • If you click "Add" and see an error message that says "Couldn't detect a printer. Please enter printer address again." double check the IP address of the printer to ensure it is correct. If you are sure you have entered it correctly, refer to this article.

If you run into any issues, please call the Helpdesk at 325-674-4357 and we will be happy to assist you with these steps.
