How do I Use CRM Advance on Chrome OS, Chromebox, Chromebook?

CRM Advance is an application accessed through a web browser. When you connect to it, your browser sends a "user-agent string" that CRM Advance uses to identify your browser as either a mobile browser or a desktop browser in order to serve you either the mobile or desktop version of the page. On Chrome OS, CRM Advance recognizes Chrome's user-agent string as a mobile browser, and serves the mobile version of the page, preventing you from using the application.

Since it is not possible to install a different web browser on Chrome OS, we need to change what user-agent string Chrome sends. We will do this with a Chrome extension.

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Search for "user agent switcher."
  3. Click one of the extensions (we recommend User-Agent Switcher for Chrome offered by google.com because Google is a trusted developer).
  4. Click "Add to Chrome."
  5. Click "Add Extension"
  6. Click the extensions icon in the top-right (shaped like a puzzle piece).
  7. Click "User-Agent Switcher for Chrome."
  8. Click a browser and then the desired user-agent string (we recommend Firefox > Windows Firefox 33).

Chrome should now be sending a Windows Firefox user-agent string that CRM Advance will recognize as a desktop browser, and should serve the desktop version of the page.
