How do I create an announcement item in REACH?

REACH tools do not seem to fully work in Safari. If you have trouble with using any tools in REACH, try using Chrome or Firefox.

To create an announcement:

  1. Go to the Media Library.
  2. Click "Add Assets" and "Create Announcement" or if you want to edit an existing Announcement, click the wrench icon on the Announcement item and select "Edit Announcement"
  3. Enter a name for your announcement and select the size. If you're making a landscape announcement, 1920 width and 1080 height is generally acceptable. If making a portrait announcement, use 1080 width and 1920 height. You can also select a template if desired, or start from scratch without a template.
  4. In the Announcement editor, you can add a background image, shapes, text, or other overlay images using the different editors on the left side.
    1. To add a background image, select "Canvas" followed by "Add Background Image" and you will be able to add a background image from your Media Library. It will automatically size to fill the entire announcement canvas.
    2. To add shapes, select "Shape" from the left side. At the top left there are buttons to add Rectangles and Ellipses. Select one of these options, then drag inside the announcement canvas to create a shape at the desired size. Next to the shape buttons on the top there is a background fill color option, and animations which can be used. To delete a shape, click the trash can icon on the right side of the top bar.
    3. To add overlay images, select "Image" on the left side. On the top there is a button to add an image. When you add an image you will be able to select items from your Media Library. When an image is added, it will be at its native size which may be larger than the announcement canvas. Use the "Geometry" box at the top right to adjust the size. "Edit Image" will allow you to quickly crop, flip, or add basic filters like blur or grayscale to an image. To delete an image, click the trash can icon on the right side of the top bar.
      1. Keep in mind that the maximum width and height that can be shown is whatever the announcement canvas size was set to (usually W:1920 and H:1080) and size accordingly. The link icon at the top right of the geometry window can be used to unlock the aspect ratio which is locked by default. Locking the aspect ratio keeps you from accidentally stretching or warping the image by maintaining the original ratio of width to height automatically when resizing an image.
    4. To add text, select "Text" from the left side, then click "Add Text Box" on the top bar. The text box will be added with a red outline so you can drag and resize it to where you like. To edit the text in the box, click the "Edit Text" button on the top bar or right side in the "Font" box. After clicking "Edit Text" you can input text into the field, or recolor, resize, and change fonts using the box found on the right side of the page called "Font". These tools are only active while you're in text editing mode. Click "Stop Editing" when you are done.
  5. When you are finished editing your Announcement, click "Save" at the top in the middle. You can also preview before saving to see what it will look like on your sign.
