Google Sites

Google Sites (accessible at sites.google.com) offers a flexible and intuitive platform for creating websites. It's a great option for users who desire more control over their site's design and functionality, and who may need to host a broader range of content or applications. An example of a Google Site can be seen at the Workday Transition site.

  • Key Characteristics:
    • Customization: Google Sites provides extensive customization options for layout, themes, and content integration.
    • Independence: You can create and manage your Google Site independently.
    • ACU Specific Template: For an ACU-branded experience, contact the IT Support Center at 325-674-5555 or support@acu.edu to request access to an ACU-specific template.
  • When to Choose Google Sites:
    • You need a standalone website for a project, department, or initiative.
    • Your intended audience could be internal to ACU, a subsection of ACU, or external audiences.
    • You require more design flexibility and control over the site's appearance.
    • You plan to integrate various Google Workspace tools (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets, Forms) directly into your site.
    • You want to manage your site's content and structure independently.

 

myACU Pages (Pathify)

myACU Pages are integrated within our Pathify portal, offering a streamlined approach for creating internal-facing content that benefits from the existing myACU ecosystem. This is ideal for sharing information relevant to the ACU community within a controlled environment. An example of myACU Pages can be seen at the Purchasing Office myACU Page.

  • Key Characteristics:
    • Integrated Environment: Pages exist within the myACU portal, making them easily discoverable by the ACU community. 
    • Simplified Management: IT will set up the page for you, and you'll be granted access to manage its content.
    • Controlled Access: Content can be easily targeted to specific groups within myACU.
  • When to Choose myACU Pages:
    • You need to create a page for internal ACU communication, resources, or information.
    • You need a single page with information, not a complex set of pages.
    • You want to leverage the existing myACU internal audience and intend to serve a broad subsection of the university.
    • You are looking for a straightforward way to share information without needing a separate website.

If neither of these options seems like the right fit for your content, go ahead and contact the IT Support Center at 325-674-5555 or support@acu.edu, and we will work with you to identify the best path forward.  If the content you are looking to manage is directly related to driving student enrollment, it may be appropriate for that content to exist on the main ACU website.
