How do I transfer photos from an iPhone to my computer?

How to transfer photos onto a Mac:

1. Update your iTunes to the latest version, this is the application that will be transfering the files.
2. Connect your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iPod, or other devices) using a USB/Lightning cable.
3. The phone may need to be unlocked before your computer will allow file transfer.
4. The computer should open the Photos application, but if it doesn't do so, open the Photos app.
5. From the Photos app, click the Import tab by the top of the page, or you can select the device on the left.
6. Pick the photos that you wanted to transfer, or click Import All New Items.

How to transfer photos onto a PC:

1. Import photos and videos from an iPhone to PC
2. Transfer photos from an iPhone to your PC.
3. First, connect your iPhone to a PC with a USB cable that can transfer files.
4. Turn your phone on and unlock it. Your PC can’t find the device if the device is locked.
5. On your PC, select the Start   button and then select photos to open the Photos app.
6.  Select Import > From a USB device, then follow the instructions. You can pick the items you want to import and select where to save them. Allow a few moments for detection and transfer. 
7. Make sure the photos you want to import are actually on the device rather than in the cloud.  Then, follow the steps for your type of device.
