Account Management

As an ACU student or employee, you will use your ACU username and password to access a wide variety of technology resources such as myACU, your ACU email, lab computers, etc. Your username and password are shared between several kinds of account that automatically sync with each other.

Accounts that ACU IT does NOT administer include the following:

  1. Authorized User (e.g. parents) pay portal accounts. These accounts are administered by Touchnet: customercare@touchnet.com or 800-869-8329.
  2. Admissions Application accounts. These are administered by the department of Undergraduate Admissions.
  3. Computer accounts on computers not ordered through IT, e.g. student-owned computers, a computer purchased by an academic department directly from a retailer.

You can find ACU's account policy our support portal.

Single Sign On (SSO)

SSO is a group of related web-based authentication protocols that allow you to access multiple online resources without having to log in each time. SSO uses CAS and Shibboleth.

Computer Accounts

A computer account (also called a profile, user profile, etc.) allows you to log in to a computer and use it. There are broadly two kinds of computer accounts:

  1. Accounts that are stored locally on the computer. These are called local accounts.
  2. Accounts that are managed by another computer (server) on the network. These are called network accounts.

ACU uses a service called Active Directory to manage network accounts. All lab computers and all employees' computers use network accounts. These accounts will have the same username and password as your Single Sign On (SSO) account.

New Account Information and Password

If you're a newly admitted student or a newly hired employee, go to my.acu.edu/email. You will be required to provide your date of birth and Banner ID number, which is provided in your acceptance letter or hiring communication. Then you will be prompted to set your password.

Account Unlock

Account lockout typically happens when a password has been entered incorrectly too many times. This is to make it more difficult to gain unauthorized access to the account by repeatedly trying different passwords.

Most ACU accounts will automatically unlock in fifteen minutes or less, but ACU IT can also unlock your account or assist if your account is repeatedly locking.
